Voice Preferences
Go to to access the following settings:
- Disable/enable voice-control in Opera completely. Enabling voice for the first time will initiate a dialog asking if you want to download voice libraries for Opera. The download is approximately 3.5MB.
- Select gender for the browser voice.
- Determine which key to use as a keyboard substitute for the toolbar "Voice" button.
- Choose whether to hold the voice button while talking, click it before talking, or not use the button at all. Note that the two last alternatives are likely to increase response time significantly.
You can also change the predefined voice commands that come with Opera. Before editing commands, be sure to make a duplicate of the original setup for easy retrieval. The customization process is similar to those for customizing keyboard and mouse setups. Learn more about customizing your voice setup in the tutorial Talking to Opera.
The customization dialog also lets you change the prefix required for all browser commands, by default "Opera".
